Search has always given brands more than one chance to be discovered. A company might rank first, fifth or tenth and still attract a customer. AI search works differently. Ask an AI assistant for the best hotel in a city, suitable software for a particular task or a product recommendation, and it may narrow dozens of possibilities down to a handful.
For marketers, the question is no longer only where a brand ranks, but whether it makes it into the answer at all.
Yext’s latest expansion of Scout reflects this change. The platform, which already measures AI visibility at local level, is being extended to brand-level visibility and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) across more of the sources AI systems cite. Yext is also connecting those insights with its Action Center, where agents can carry out tasks across listings, reviews, social content and the Yext Knowledge Graph.
What makes this interesting is not another AI visibility score. It is an attempt to connect what AI says about a brand with the information and actions that might improve its chances of being mentioned.
Being found is no longer enough
SEO taught marketers to think about rankings, keywords and traffic. AI search adds another consideration because an answer is assembled from information found across different sources.
