In a region where mobile connections outnumber people and the marketing funnel now resembles a maze, AnyMind Group’s Southeast Asia Digital Landscape 2025 report delivers both a reality check and a roadmap for navigating the region’s fast-evolving digital ecosystem. 

The core message is, Southeast Asia’s digital economy is booming, but fragmented. With mobile penetration at 117.8% and internet access above 78% across six ASEAN markets, consumer behavior is anything but linear. The classic funnel is obsolete. Instead, today’s journey zigzags through social feeds, in-game ads, influencer content, and last-minute WhatsApp nudges. 

Beyond the funnel: Welcome to the interaction matrix 

Drawing from first-party data across its platforms—AnyTag (influencer), POKKT (mobile), AnyDigital (web), and AnyX (e-commerce)—AnyMind shows how the traditional funnel has given way to a multi-touch, multi-sensory matrix. 

Brands need to stop thinking only in terms of funnel stages and start focusing on being present wherever their audience is. In-game ads, once considered niche, have now become powerful tools for driving early-stage brand awareness. Paired with video and social media, they can drive 40 %+ reach across key markets. Meanwhile, shoppable videos are accelerating conversions, especially in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia, mobile-first markets where discovery and purchase often happen in the same scroll. 

Timing is the new targeting 

One of the report’s most actionable insights: ad timing can outperform targeting. Consumers across SEA respond best to video content shown 1–3 days before purchase. In markets like Malaysia and the Philippines, click-through rates peak within this narrow window, giving marketers a high-impact moment to convert interest into action.
