Gemini 3.5, AI-powered Search, and autonomous agents reveal Google’s vision for an AI-native digital ecosystem.

Artificial intelligence is no longer evolving as a standalone technology category. At Google I/O 2026, Google demonstrated that AI has become the foundational layer in reshaping how people search, create, work, and interact with digital systems.

From Gemini 3.5 and autonomous agents to the reinvention of Search and multimodal video generation, Google is positioning AI as the infrastructure behind everyday digital life. Rather than unveiling isolated tools, the company introduced a connected ecosystem designed to embed intelligence across consumer experiences, enterprise workflows, and media creation.

Gemini 3.5 pushes AI beyond assistance toward execution

A core announcement from the event was Gemini 3.5, Google’s newest family of AI models built to combine advanced reasoning with autonomous task execution.

Designed to complete long-horizon tasks faster, more efficiently, and at lower operational costs, Gemini 3.5 is rolling out globally as the default model across the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search. For enterprises and developers, the model’s balance of performance and affordability makes it a practical solution for complex workflows, from maintaining software codebases to assisting with financial documentation.

The launch reflects a broader industry transition toward autonomous AI systems that do more than generate text; they can increasingly manage workflows, coordinate digital tasks, and execute actions across software environments.

Google search is evolving into an AI decision engine

Google unveiled a major redesign of..., signaling its most significant transformation in years. The traditional search box is being reimagined to support conversational interactions, allowing users to ask complex questions and receive AI-powered suggestions that extend beyond standard autocomplete.
