IBM’s “Let’s Create Smarter Business”

IBM’s latest global campaign, “Let’s create smarter business”, lands at a decisive moment in the AI adoption curve. As the hype cycle peaks, business leaders are no longer dazzled by pilots and proofs of concept. Instead, they’re under pressure to deliver measurable returns. IBM is positioning itself as the partner that can turn experimentation into enterprise-wide transformation.

From experimentation to impact

For years, executives have been promised AI-driven revolutions, only to discover the challenges of scaling—fragmented data systems, workforce readiness, and elusive ROI. IBM’s campaign directly addresses this frustration. Rather than presenting AI as a silver bullet, it reframes technology (hybrid cloud, AI, and even quantum computing) as tools that deliver clarity and outcomes when applied with precision.

As Jonathan Adashek, IBM’s SVP of Marketing and Communications, puts it: “This is more than a campaign. It’s a philosophy that IBM is embracing to transform companies into smarter businesses.”

The shift from “Let’s create” (2022) to “Let’s create smarter business” is more than a tagline tweak. It signals a focus on pragmatic ROI, anchoring IBM as the trusted bridge between hype and hard results.

Storytelling with substance

Developed in collaboration with Ogilvy and directed by Adam Heshemi, the creative execution strikes a balance of credibility. Narrated by seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, the ads channel his precision, speed, and data-driven decision-making as a metaphor for enterprise AI. Hamilton isn’t a generic celebrity endorsement; he embodies performance under pressure—the same context in which IBM’s clients operate.”

IBM grounds the narrative in proof points. Its collaboration with Ferrari on a redesigned mobile fan app showcases how AI and analytics enhance customer experience, while demonstrating how similar approaches can scale to drive productivity, efficiency, and informed decision-making across various industries.
