Singapore’s AI networking readiness gap:
A wake-up call for the channel

Singapore has long positioned itself as a regional testbed for emerging technologies, from 5G to cloud-native infrastructure and digital public services. Yet new research from Westcon-Comstor reveals an unexpected weakness at the heart of the country’s digital ambitions: a serious readiness gap in the channel’s ability to support AI-driven networking.

The research, based on a multi-country survey of 500 senior decision-makers across MSPs, VARs, MSSPs and systems integrators, shows that while customer demand for AI-enabled network capabilities is skyrocketing, channel partners in Singapore are not yet fully prepared to deliver. The findings challenge the assumption that Singapore’s technology ecosystem naturally leads the region. Instead, they reveal a moment of inflection, and an opportunity for those willing to move decisively.

AI demand is rising faster than partner capability

The most striking finding is that 82 percent of channel partners in Singapore say they cannot yet design or deliver AI-ready networking solutions. Only 18 percent currently offer advanced, AI-integrated network services, far below the global average of 26 percent and the lowest among the five countries studied.

This gap is made more urgent by the fact that fewer than a third of Singaporean partners believe their customers’ existing network infrastructures are fully prepared to support AI workloads. Enterprises are moving quickly into automation, real-time analytics and edge computing, yet their network foundations are not keeping pace. The result is a widening disconnect between customer aspiration and technical reality.

A market early in its transformation

Many partners in Singapore are actively strengthening their AI capabilities. Most report involvement in important areas such as visibility, security and automation, signalling that foundational transformation work is underway. Yet engagement in more advanced or emerging domains remains limited. Only a minority are active in zero-trust architecture and intent-based networking, two technologies that underpin intelligent, adaptive networks capable...
