Tencent’s latest AI rollout signals that the next competitive battleground isn’t building bigger models, it’s embedding intelligence into everyday business workflows.
For much of the past three years, the artificial intelligence race has been defined by one question: whose model is bigger, faster and smarter?
That conversation is now evolving. As large language models become increasingly capable, enterprises are asking a different question: how can AI create measurable business value?
Tencent’s international rollout of Hy3, its latest foundation model, reflects that shift. Rather than simply introducing another large language model to compete on benchmark scores, the company is positioning Hy3 as the intelligence layer powering AI agents, workplace productivity and creative applications across its growing enterprise ecosystem.
It’s an approach that mirrors where the broader AI industry appears to be heading. Performance still matters, but businesses are increasingly looking beyond benchmark rankings to solutions that automate workflows, improve productivity and integrate seamlessly into existing operations.
The focus is on moving beyond chat
The first wave of generative AI transformed how people searched for information, wrote content and generated code through conversational interfaces. The next phase is about delegation rather than conversation. Instead of simply responding to prompts, AI agents are being designed to carry out complex, multi-step tasks with minimal human input.
Tencent..., the company’s AI workspace, where users can instruct AI agents to research information, analyze data, prepare reports, build presentations and manage workplace communications from a single prompt.
