A recent Forbes Communications Council article by Maria Alonso captures what we’ve been seeing firsthand: artificial intelligence didn’t disrupt marketing—it revealed it. AI isn’t exposing a flaw in technology; it’s exposing long-standing fragility in strategy, positioning, and audience understanding that was once hidden behind performance dashboards and activity metrics.
For years, marketing operated comfortably inside performance dashboards. Impressions, click-through rates, engagement percentages, numbers that suggested productivity and forward motion. Campaigns launched. Content scaled. Automation expanded. On the surface, everything appeared optimized.
But velocity can disguise fragility.
AI did not introduce confusion into marketing strategy. It accelerated the environment enough to make existing weaknesses visible. Brands that lacked clarity in positioning, consistency in messaging, or a deep understanding of their audience suddenly saw those gaps magnified. When vague strategies are fed into powerful systems, the result is scaled ambiguity. When clear positioning is fed into those same systems, the result is amplified precision.
